HABITAT
The Black Widow Spider can be found in the Temperate Forest Biome.[1] They are usually found in hollow stumps, in wood piles, in cluttered spaces, and under stones.[2] This creature spends most of its time hanging around its web showing it is very independent.
Black Widow Spiders are rarely found indoors. The reason why you would run into a Black Widow Spider indoors, would be occasionally due to cold climates. Indoors the spider can be found inside garages, inside shoes, and in wooden piles.
INTER-/INTRA- SPECIFIC INTERACTIONS
Interspecific:
Black Widow Spiders are very independent and protective of their niche. They will do anything to get food and constantly create spider webs to have a higher possibility to capture other species to eat making them a secondary consumer.
INTRASPECIFIC:
The Black Widow Spider is called the Black "Widow" because after mating with a male Black Widow the female eats up her mate. The female is very careless of the male and spends her time taking care of her egg sac after she gives birth to 400-1,000 eggs.
